Social Report
Cathy Cawley

This year is almost at an end and there is still plenty of activity at the SJRYC. Pat Breitkreuz and her decorating committee have made the Club inviting with their holiday decorations on all floors. They even left a tree on the 2nd floor for the general membership to adorn with their own ornament! You are invited to help dress the Club Community Tree. We have several opportunities for you to find a spot on the tree before Christmas. The Club is open Wednesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and we have several holiday events to mark the season.

Kid's Club on Saturdays from 1-3pm highlighted with movies and treats. At the same time, the Keepers Bar is the spot to watch football games on 3 screens with staff prepared tailgate treats. Also The Euchre Challenge is every Wednesday on the second floor of the Club from 7-9. The game starts on the dot at 7pm and the weekly highest score player is presented with the weekly trophy! The Club Euchre Champion will be announced the 28th of December.

Santa will make a stopover around 1pm on Saturday December 10th. He's really busy this time of year so if you can't be there before 3pm you will miss him. Bring your Christmas list and a camera. Good time to hang an ornament on the Community Tree on the 2nd floor.

On Friday the 16th of December the last buffet of 2016 will be served on the 2nd floor starting at 6:00pm. Came have dinner and hang your ornament on the tree, then join the music of the Mockingbirds in the Keeper's Bar. This is our Christmas Carol Sing Along, as well as an opportunity to dance to and listen to music from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

We celebrate the end of a very successful 2016 and the anticipation of another great year for the St. Joe River Yacht Club at The New Years Eve Party on the 3rd floor of the Club on the 31st of December. The band "Top Secret" will entertain from 8:30 pm until 2017. Dinner reservations are required for the "over the top" meal with appetizers and cocktails served from 6 to 7. Dinner at 7pm to those who have reserved their spot at a table. Those who choose the no food option are invited to join the fun after 8pm and dance the night away.

Please check the posters attached for future details about each event.

It has been a pleasure to help with the Social Committee this year and meet so many great people who make the St. Joe River Yacht Club the Best Yacht Club on the Great Lakes!

Manager’s Report
Joann L. Kavanaugh

My favorite part about living in the Midwest is seeing the seasons change. Summer’s green gives way to a striking display of yellow, orange and red and the autumn skies grow deeper blue. We have been lucky to enjoy a mild and colorful season here in Southwest Michigan, I hope you all took some time to delight in our beautiful surroundings.

We have been pleased by busier than average days and nights here at SJRYC this season. With a social calendar full of activities this past few months, it is no wonder why we have seen so many of you making the most of what your club has to offer. Thank you for your continued membership and support.

Next week, many of us will be hosting out of town friends and family for Thanksgiving, please note that the clubhouse will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will re-open at 4pm on Friday, November 25th. We will be featuring a Crab Leg Dinner Special for those of you who need a break from turkey! There will be no TGIF Buffet offered on the 25th.

If you missed the opportunity to join us at the annual meeting this past Thursday please take a look at the agenda from the evening by clicking here. Help us welcome our new board members Eric Hansen, Bruce Larson and Demrhy Youngquist and join me in thanking our outgoing board members Mary Coon, Byron Higgins and Leif Norland, their years of service to our club is greatly appreciated.

On Thanksgiving, while I enjoy time with my family, I will also take a moment to be thankful, there is much to be thankful for….I hope you feel the same way.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! See you at the Club!

We are entering a very busy time of year, The Holiday Season!
Planning, shopping, entertaining, being entertained, all very exhausting. Take out  your
calendar and circle a few dates when the SJRYC can come to your rescue.

Saturday, December 10th from 1-3pm,  Santa Claus is coming to the St. Joseph River Yacht Club for a duel purpose. First, he will want to know what our younger members, or younger family members of our older members, hope to find under the tree on Christmas morning. Then,  with his best smile he will pose with them in time to commemorate the 2016 holidays If you bring your cellphone, or camera you will have an instant copy for friends and family.   Santa will be in red and white so you will have many choices to make a colorful picture.

Friday, December 16th from 7-10pm in the Keepers Bar, we will have musical entertainment presented by the Mockingbirds. We love having them this time of year for all the holiday favorites they share. They will also play music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Lots of opportunity to sing-a-long, but don't forget your dancing shoes.

New Year's Eve at the SJRYC is a marathon for our staff. It's not easy trying to plan an event that can please both young and older members! But we keep trying! For those interested in a very formal menu we have it! If you want just entertainment and drinks, we have it! Check out the poster and notice that the  evening can start at 6pm with appetizers, then dinner at 7pm and the entertainment  at 8pm. (OR) You can arrive after 8pm and enjoy the celebration and dance till midnight while you sip champagne in a toast to 2017 if you choose.  The band was selected last year after they performed at the Commodores Bash. They were so well received that the Social Committee booked them for 2016's New Years Eve party!  I don't want to say to much about them because they are "TOP SECRET".
